Tenth-ranked Gaiteros (1-16) made lots of trouble for seventh ranked Gigantes (7-10) in Maracaibo. The visitors from Puerto Ordaz managed to secure only one-point victory 84-83. However their fans expected easier game. Gigantes dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Gaiteros' 40. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Kammron Taylor (188-84, college: Wisconsin) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 8 assists. The former international forward Axiers Sucre (199-78) accounted for 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Four Gigantes players scored in double figures. American guard Tierre Brown (188-79, college: McNeese St., agency: Haylett Sports) came up with 25 points and 5 rebounds and Nigerian-American power forward Reggie Okosa (208-80, college: La Salle) added 20 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Gaiteros in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Gigantes maintains seventh place with 7-10 record. Gaiteros lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Gigantes will have a break next round. Gaiteros will play again at home against Gigantes (#7) and hope to win that game.
