Regular Season Round 25: San Martino - Familia Schio 49-74

An interesting game for Familia Schio (21-3) which played road game in San Martino di L against 3rd placed San Martino (17-8). First ranked Familia Schio had an easy win 74-49. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of San Martino. The game without a history. Familia Schio led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding San Martino to just 7 points in first quarter. Familia Schio dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to San Martino's 36. They outrebounded San Martino 42-27 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American Jolene Anderson (175-86, college: Wisconsin) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 6 rebounds. French center Isabelle Yacoubou (190-86, agency: Comsport) contributed with 9 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Familia Schio's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Taysha Pye (175-89, college: William & Mary, agency: Interperformances) answered with 9 points and 8 rebounds and Latvian power forward Aija Putnina (191-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 10 points in the effort for San Martino. Familia Schio have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 21-3 record. San Martino at the other side dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. Familia Schio are looking forward to face Napoli (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. San Martino will play against Lavezzini PR in Parma and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
