Third ranked Dragonflies won an overtime thriller against second-ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins by one point 69-68 on Wednesday night. The game took place in Nagoya. But the guests from Hiroshima were better at the end. Mitsubishi Dolphins trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 18-6 run in the last quarter tied the game at the end of regular time, But then they lost eventually overtime period 10-11. Dragonflies made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Dragonflies outrebounded Mitsubishi Dolphins 49-34 including 38 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas, agency: APAA Sports Group) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Senegalese center Pape Faye (200-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. Senegalese-French forward Amath M'Baye (206-89, college: Oklahoma) produced a double-double by scoring 30 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Brendan Lane (206-90, college: Pepperdine) added 9 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Mitsubishi Dolphins' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Dragonflies maintains third place with 18-24 record having eighteen points less than leader Hitachi SR. Mitsubishi Dolphins at the other side keep the second position with 16 games lost. Dragonflies will face Hokkaido L. (#6) in Saporro in the next round. Mitsubishi Dolphins will play at home against Toyota Alvark (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
