Regular Season Round 41: Tsukuba R. - Toyota Alvark 51-89

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Tsukuba R. (4-39) was crushed at home by fifth ranked Toyota Alvark (27-14) 89-51 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Toyota Alvark led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Tsukuba R.'s 40. Toyota Alvark forced 26 Tsukuba R. turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Toyota Alvark made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. The former international forward Daiki Tanaka (191-91) chipped in 19 points. American forward Duke Crews (203-88, college: Bowie St.) produced 17 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import power forward Justin Reynolds (206-88, college: Texas A&M-CC) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyota Alvark have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Tsukuba R. at the other side keeps the seventh position with 39 games lost. Toyota Alvark will face league's second-placed Mitsubishi Dolphins in Nagoya in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tsukuba R. will play at home against Kumamoto V. (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
