Regular Season Round 24: Cocodrilos - Bucaneros 79-63

The most important game in the last round took place in Caracas between second ranked Bucaneros (12-6) and fourth ranked Cocodrilos (12-6) on Wednesday night. Bucaneros were defeated by Cocodrilos on the road 63-79. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bucaneros. The game was mostly controlled by Cocodrilos. Bucaneros managed to win fourth quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game, while Bucaneros only scored five points from the stripe. It was a good game for swingman Cesar Garcia (175-89) who led his team to a victory with 25 points. American guard Carl Elliott (193-83, college: G.Washington) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Four Cocodrilos players scored in double figures. The former international power forward Hector Romero (202-80, college: New Orleans) replied with 16 points and 6 rebounds and American swingman Tim Pickett (192-81, college: Florida St., agency: Interperformances) added 11 points in the effort for Bucaneros. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cocodrilos moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Bucaneros. Cocodrilos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Bucaneros will play at home against Trotamundos and are hoping to win this game.
