Regular Season Round 24: Marinos - Trotamundos 77-65

Date: March 25, 2015
LPB top team - Marinos (15-3) managed to deliver another win on Wednesday. This time they beat sixth ranked Trotamundos (9-5) in Puerto La Cruz 77-65. The game was mostly controlled by Marinos. Trotamundos managed to win fourth quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Marinos looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Trotamundos' players. The winners were led by American forward Marcus Melvin (206-82, college: N.Carolina St.) who scored that evening 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import center Brian Williams (208-87, college: Tennessee) supported him with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks. Even 18 points by the former international point guard David Cubillan (181-87, college: Marquette) did not help to save the game for Trotamundos. Nigerian center Kenny Adeleke (205-83, college: Hartford) added 11 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Marinos have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 15-3 record. Loser Trotamundos keep the sixth place with five games lost. Marinos will meet Panteras (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Trotamundos will play against Bucaneros in La Guaira and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
