Regular Season Round 41: Chiba Jets - Toshiba BT 85-93

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 4th placed Chiba Jets' (27-16) home loss to third ranked Toshiba Thunders (30-11) 85-93 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-85. Toshiba Thunders looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds. The former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) chipped in 26 points and 6 assists. Toshiba Thunders' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) produced a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds (on 15-of-19 shooting from the field) and the other American import power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains third place with 30-11 record having seven points less than leader Hitachi SR. Loser Chiba Jets dropped to the fifth position with 16 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Chiba Jets will play at home against Hyogo S. (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
