Regular Season Round 25: Venezia - Battipaglia 89-74

Date: March 25, 2015
No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Venezia (17-7) beat at home 8th ranked Battipaglia (10-15) 89-74. The game was mostly controlled by Venezia. Battipaglia was better in second period 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Venezia dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Battipaglia's 38. Venezia forced 22 Battipaglia turnovers. American center Aneika Henry (193-86, college: Florida) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners and her fellow American import guard Shannon McCallum (177-87, college: Charlotte) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. Five Venezia players scored in double figures. At the losing side Dutch Kourtney Treffers (187-94, agency: Court Side) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and American swingman Brooque Williams (175-89, college: California, PA, agency: Two Points) scored 21 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Venezia. They moved-up to third place. Newly promoted Battipaglia dropped to the ninth position with 15 games lost. Venezia will play against Lucca (#7) on the road in the next round. Battipaglia will have a break next round.
