Regular Season Round 27: Melilla - Burgos 57-68

Date: March 27, 2015
Very predictable result when second ranked Burgos (18-6) won against on the road 9th ranked Melilla Baloncesto (12-14) 68-57. The game was mostly controlled by Burgos. Melilla Baloncesto was better in second period 19-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Burgos dominated down low during the game scoring 38 of its points in the paint compared to Melilla Baloncesto's 16. The best player for the winners was American power forward Taylor Coppenrath (205-81, college: Vermont) who scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Albert Sabat (182-85) chipped in 7 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Spencer Butterfield (190-92, college: Utah St., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who recorded 14 points and point guard Enric Garrido (178-82) added 13 points and 5 assists respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Burgos. They maintain second place with 18-6 record having 2 victories less than leader Breogan. Melilla Baloncesto at the other side keeps the ninth position with 14 games lost. Burgos' next round opponent will be Palencia Baloncesto (#7) at home which should be theoretically an easy game. Melilla Baloncesto will play against Lobe Huesca and hope to win that game.
