Second Stage Round 19: BGU Minsk - Grodno-93 71-91

Very expected game when 6th ranked BGU Minsk (7-22) was crushed at home by first ranked Grodno-93 (25-3) 91-71 on Friday. The game without a history. Grodno-93 led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to BGU Minsk's 38. Grodno-93 forced 20 BGU Minsk turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by BGU Minsk's players. It was a great evening for the former international forward Andrei Mastou (202-84) who led his team to a victory scoring 12 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Point guard Artem Malkov (185-88) helped adding 15 points and 7 assists. At the losing side Cuban forward Darol Hernandez (206-89) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds and forward Artem Kozlov (194-90) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Grodno-93 maintains first place in League with 25-3 record. Newly promoted BGU Minsk keeps the sixth position with 22 games lost. Grodno-93 will face GOCOR-Sozh (#5) in Gomel in the next round. BGU Minsk will play on the road against Borisfen in Mogilev and hope to win that game.
