Second Stage Round 6: UBA - Al Riyadi 104-99 OT

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Al Riyadi (18-2) in Byblos on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by second ranked UBA (12-8) in overtime 104-99. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Al Riyadi. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in A. Al Riyadi was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 7-point lead after three quarters before a 22-15 charge of UBA, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 18-13. UBA looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American guard Jasmon Youngblood (195-84, college: Kent St.) had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international power forward Ali Kanaan (207-85, college: Mass.-Lowell) chipped in 8 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American-FYR Macedonian forward Jeremiah Massey (202-82, college: Kansas St.) with 36 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and naturalized Egyptian power forward Ahmad Ismail (205-76) scored 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. UBA maintains second position in A with 12-8 record having six points less than leader Al Riyadi. Defending champion Al Riyadi still keeps top place with two games lost.
