Regular Season Round 26: Poitiers - Monaco 69-71

Thirteenth-ranked Poitiers (10-16) gave a tough game to second ranked Monaco (19-6). The visitors from Monaco managed to secure only two-point victory 71-69. However their fans expected much easier game. Poitiers was ahead by 5 points after three quarters before a 19-12 charge of Monaco, which allowed them to win the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American swingman Quincy Taylor (195-82, college: UAB) notched 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and the other American import point guard Darrel Mitchell (181-84, college: LSU) supported him with 16 points and 7 assists. Even 14 points and 6 rebounds by American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) did not help to save the game for Poitiers. Lamine Kante (201-87) added 12 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Monaco have an impressive six-game winning streak. Newly promoted Monaco maintains second position with 19-6 record behind leader Hyeres-Toulon. Poitiers lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 16 games lost. Monaco will play against Nantes (#6) on the road in the next round. Poitiers will play against Fos Ouest (#11) in Fos-sur-Mer and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
