Regular Season Round 47: Akita NH - Shinshu BW 99-94

Date: March 28, 2015
Very predictable result when second ranked Akita Happinets (35-10) defeated at home 7th ranked Shinshu BW (18-25) 99-94 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Shinshu BW won third quarter 28-27. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Shinshu BW 41-30 including 27 on the defensive glass. Akita Happinets looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American swingman Richard Roby (198-85) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import forward Ruben Boykin (201-85, college: N.Arizona) helped adding 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. American-Somalian forward Mohamed Abukar (208-85, college: San Diego St., agency: Two Points) responded with 31 points and 5 assists and American forward DeVaughn Washington (202-89, college: Ohio) scored 13 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Shinshu BW's coach Ryuji Kawai rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Akita Happinets maintains second place with 35-10 record behind leader Kyoto Hannar. Shinshu BW lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 25 games lost. Akita Happinets will face again Shinshu BW (#7) in Nagano in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
