Very important is a home loss of third ranked Cortegada (14-6) against seventh ranked Araski AES (11-9) on Saturday night. Host Cortegada was defeated by Araski AES in Vilagarcia Arousa 68-58. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Cortegada. The game was mostly controlled by Araski AES. Cortegada was better in third quarter 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Cortegada outrebounded Araski AES 45-33 including 30 on the defensive glass. Arrate Agirre (175-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Power forward Itsaso Conde (185-96) contributed with 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Five Araski AES players scored in double figures. Guard Sara Gomez (172-86, agency: Josep and Nicolas) replied with 11 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals and Senegalese guard Samba Tabara (192-95, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 8 points and 15 rebounds in the effort for Cortegada. Araski AES maintains seventh position in Group A with 11-9 record. Cortegada at the other side keeps the third place with six games lost. They share the position with Arxil Pontev. and Aros Leon. Araski AES will play against Pabellon Ourense (#12) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Cortegada will play against Badajoz BF (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
