Leader San Giovanni delivered the seventh victory on Saturday night. This time they beat 6th ranked Alpo VR (1-7) 77-60 in Verona. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 42-24 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. San Giovanni dominated on the defensive end, holding Alpo VR to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. San Giovanni forced 28 Alpo VR turnovers and outrebounded them 35-17 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Maria Barberis (178-95) who scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Martina Kacerik (181-96) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four San Giovanni players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Anna Rossi (170-85) who recorded 18 points and guard Giulia Monica (169-87) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Alpo VR's coach Nicola Soave let to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. San Giovanni maintains first place in A2 with 7-1 record. Newly promoted Alpo VR keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. San Giovanni will face Ferrara (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Alpo VR will play against Broni and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
