Regular Season Round 22: PAOK - Apollon Patras 68-46
Date: March 28, 2015
Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked Apollon Patras (9-13) was outscored by fourth ranked PAOK (15-7) in Thessaloniki 68-46 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by PAOK. Apollon Patras managed to win third quarter 14-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Apollon Patras to just 7 points in second quarter. PAOK had a 35-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. American power forward Kevin Langford (204-85, college: TCU) notched 14 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and point guard Apollonas Tsochlas (189-83) supported him with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Four PAOK players scored in double figures. Even 8 points and 8 rebounds by forward Alexandros Sigounas (200-88, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Apollon Patras. point guard Nikos Argiropoulos (186-78) added 14 points for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. PAOK moved-up to third place. Apollon Patras lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 13 games lost. PAOK will meet Nea Kifisia (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Apollon Patras will play against KAOD and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
