Ninth-ranked Flammes Carolo (9-15) made lots of trouble for seventh ranked Tarbes (14-10) in Charleville on Saturday. The visitors from Tarbes managed to secure only three-point victory 58-55. However their fans expected easier game. Flammes Carolo was trailing by 9 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 14-10 charge of Tarbes, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 20 Flammes Carolo turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Ukrainian center Valeriya Berezhynska (193-86, college: Rice, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who helped to win the game recording 8 points and 8 rebounds and Greek forward Styliani Kaltsidou (188-83, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who added 10 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Nigerian center Olayinka Sanni (188-86, college: W.Virginia, agency: Josep and Nicolas) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American forward Ambrosia Anderson (186-84, college: BYU, agency: Two Points) scored 6 points and 8 rebounds. Tarbes moved-up to sixth place. Flammes Carolo at the other side keeps the ninth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Mondeville and Toulouse. Tarbes will meet at home Mondeville (#9) in the next round. Flammes Carolo will play against Basket Landes in Mont de Marsan and hope to secure a win.
