Undefeated San Pietro (7-1) recorded its first loss on the court of second ranked Torino on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by Torino 64-63. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in A2. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But San Pietro won fourth quarter 24-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Torino forced 20 San Pietro turnovers. The best player for the winners was forward Costanza Coen (190-90) who scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Alice Quarta (174-91) chipped in 16 points. Four Torino players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Mariella Santucci (178-97) who recorded 12 points and Croatian power forward Ivona Matic (188-86, agency: IPSA) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively. San Pietro's coach Paolo Seletti tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Torino maintains second place in A2 with 6-2 record behind leader San Giovanni. Newly promoted San Pietro still keeps top position with one game lost. Torino are looking forward to face Vicenza (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. San Pietro will play against Genova and is hoping to win this game.
