Second Stage Round 9: Stabia - San Salvatore 58-50

Date: March 28, 2015
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Stabia. First ranked Castellammare faced second-best San Salvatore. Host Castellammare (5-2) defeated guests from San Salvatore (4-3) 58-50. It was a key game for the top position in A2. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-17. But San Salvatore won second period 13-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Castellammare won last quarter 13-7. They dominated on the defensive end, holding San Salvatore to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded San Salvatore 49-30 including 17 on the offensive glass. Bulgarian power forward Diana Voynova (194-88, college: Duquesne) nailed a double-double by scoring 14 points and 22 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Raffaella Potolicchio (169-90) accounted for 21 points. Guard Ada De Pasquale (173-95) came up with 14 points and 8 rebounds and guard Francesca Rosellini (175-90) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for San Salvatore in the defeat. Newly promoted Castellammare maintains first place in A2 with 5-2 record. San Salvatore at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. Castellammare's next round opponent will be Muggia (#7) on the road which should be theoretically an easy game. San Salvatore will play against Biassono (#6) and hope to win that game.
