Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Wisla Krakow (2-11) was outscored by sixth ranked Asseco II (8-7) in Gdynia 100-74 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 17-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 100-74. Asseco II made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Asseco II outrebounded Wisla Krakow 50-38 including 35 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a very good performance for center Roman Szymanski (211-91, college: Colby CC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds. Wojciech Czerlonko (197-95) contributed with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Asseco II's coach Tane Spasev felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. point guard Sebastian Dabek (188-96) answered with 20 points and 6 assists and power forward Jakub Zaczek (203-96) added 13 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Wisla Krakow. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Asseco II maintains sixth place in Group E with 8-7 record. Loser Wisla Krakow keeps the ninth position with 11 games lost. Asseco II will face AZS UMCS (#7) in Lublin in the next round. Wisla Krakow will play at home against Trefl II Sopot and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
