There was no surprise in La Guaira where 6th ranked Trotamundos (9-7) were edged by second ranked Bucaneros (14-6) 68-67 on Sunday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 22-17 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American swingman Tim Pickett (192-81, college: Florida St., agency: Interperformances) who scored 24 points. The former international guard Jesus Centeno (190-85) chipped in 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Dominican forward Jack Michael Martinez (201-81) produced 18 points and 8 rebounds and international forward Miguel Ruiz (197-90) added 10 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bucaneros maintains second position with 14-6 record having just three points less than leader Marinos. Trotamundos lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with seven games lost. Bucaneros will face league's leader Marinos in Puerto La Cruz in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
