Regular Season Round 48: Iwate Big Bulls - Aomori Watts 77-71

Very predictable result when first ranked Iwate Big Bulls (37-9) beat at home 6th ranked Aomori Watts (23-23) 77-71 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-71. Strangely Aomori Watts outrebounded Iwate Big Bulls 37-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Lawrence Blackledge (206-86, college: Marquette) who scored 19 points and 8 rebounds. The other American import forward Scootie Randall (198-90, college: Temple, agency: APAA Sports Group) chipped in 24 points and 5 rebounds. Blackledge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds and American power forward Paul Williams (208-83, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: I.D.S. Law) added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Iwate Big Bulls have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 37-9 record, which they share with Okinawa GK. Loser Aomori Watts keep the sixth place with 23 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
