Thirteenth-ranked Sigma Barcellona (9-15) gave a tough game to third ranked Manital Torino (17-9) on Sunday. The visitors from Torino managed to secure only five-point victory 115-110. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 19-14 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a -2-point victory in triple-overtime. Manital Torino made 39-of-41 free shots (95.1 percent) during the game. Sigma Barcellona was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American Ronald Lewis (193-84, college: Ohio St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 10 rebounds (went 17 for 17 at the free throw line !!!). The former international point guard Jacopo Giachetti (190-83) helped adding 33 points (!!!) and 8 assists (went 15 for 15 at the free throw line !!!). The best for the losing side was forward Matteo Da Ros (204-89) with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international power forward Luca Garri (207-82) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds. Five Sigma Barcellona players scored in double figures. Manital Torino maintains third place with 17-9 record having seven points less than leader Tezenis VE. Sigma Barcellona at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. Manital Torino will face bottom-ranked CZG Veroli (#16) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Sigma Barcellona will play against Angelico Biella and hope to win that game.
