Osnabruck held off Opladen to take 1-0 lead in the quarterfinals. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-60. American point guard Angela Pace (178-87, college: Robert Morris) stepped up and scored 16 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners and her fellow American import forward Alysa Horn (182-90, college: Alaska-Anch.) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Osnabruck players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Nicole Nesbit (165-92, college: UCSB) responded with 12 points and 5 rebounds and center Mareike Nettersheim (186) scored 12 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
