Regular Season Round 25: Hapoel Holon - Maccabi T-A 83-87

Everything went according to plan when first ranked Maccabi T-A (22-3) beat on the road 3rd placed Hapoel Holon (14-11) 87-83 on Monday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Maccabi T-A outrebounded Hapoel Holon 45-28 including 32 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Hapoel Holon was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American swingman Devin Smith (196-83, college: Virginia) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and the former international center Alex Tyus (203-88, college: Florida) chipped in 23 points and 12 rebounds. Four Maccabi T-A players scored in double figures. At the losing side American Tony Crocker (200-87, college: Oklahoma) responded with 36 points (!!!) (perfect behind the arc making all six shots !!!) and guard Shlomi Harush (185-87) scored 15 points. Defending champion maintains first place with 22-3 record. Hapoel Holon at the other side keeps the third position with 11 games lost. Maccabi T-A's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tel-Aviv Hapoel Tel-Aviv.
