Very expected game when 10th ranked Panteras (3-18) lost to third ranked Guaros (14-7) in Barquisimeto 71-79 on Tuesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Panteras won third quarter 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American swingman Kim English (200-88, college: Missouri) who led his team to a victory with 19 points. International center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton) contributed with 10 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American power forward Justin Williams (206-84, college: Wyoming) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds and the former international swingman Jorge Rondon (193-90) added 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Panteras. Four Panteras players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Guaros moved-up to second place, which they share with Bucaneros. Loser Panteras stay at the bottom position with 18 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
