Regular Season Round 29: Liga Sorocaba - Brasilia 91-76

Bottom-ranked Liga Sorocaba managed to get a seventh victory, breaking the series of three consecutive loses. This time they won against ninth-ranked Brasilia in Sorocabana 91-76. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 15-point difference proves that Liga Sorocaba was well-prepared to that game. It looked good early as Brasilia took a 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Liga Sorocaba had a 23-12 second period charge getting the lead and Brasilia was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 76-91. Liga Sorocaba dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Brasilia's 26. Liga Sorocaba had a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Power forward Luiz Paulo Dos Santos (206-89, college: Slippery Rock) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. The former international center Guilherme Hubner (208-87) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. International Guilherme Giovannoni (203-80, agency: Interperformances) answered with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international point guard Fulvio de Assis (188-81) added 12 points and 5 assists in the effort for Brasilia. Four Liga Sorocaba and five Brasilia players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Liga Sorocaba (7-22) moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Rio Claro. Brasilia at the other side dropped to the tenth position with 17 games lost. Liga Sorocaba's next round opponent will be higher ranked SKY/Basquete (#14) in Aldeota and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
