Regular Season Round 27: Marinos - Bucaneros 96-63
Date: April 3, 2015
An interesting game for Marinos (18-3) which hosted in Puerto La Cruz second-best Bucaneros (14-7). First ranked Marinos had an easy win 96-63. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bucaneros. The game was mostly controlled by Marinos. Bucaneros was better in third quarter 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Bucaneros to just 7 points in first quarter. Marinos players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Bucaneros' players. The best player for the winners was American swingman Aaron Harper (203-81, college: Mississippi) who scored 25 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). His fellow American import center Brian Williams (208-87, college: Tennessee) chipped in 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Kevinn Pinkney (207-83, college: Nevada) who recorded 11 points and Jaramillo Melquiades added 11 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Marinos have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 18-3 record. Bucaneros at the other side keep the second position with seven games lost. Marinos' next round opponent will be again league's second-placed Bucaneros in La Guaira and it will be for sure the game of the week.
