Regular Season Round 26: Torun - Trefl Sopot 93-85

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Torun where 8th ranked Trefl (12-14) was defeated by ninth ranked Twarde Pierniki (12-14) 93-85. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Trefl won fourth quarter 23-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Trefl 37-21 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. American LaMarshall Corbett (188-88, college: Angelo St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import point guard William Franklin (184-85, college: Bradley, agency: 011 Sports) contributed with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. Twarde Pierniki's coach Milija Bogicevic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Lithuanian forward Eimantas Bendzius (205-90) replied with 23 points and 6 rebounds and Lithuanian center Tautvydas Lydeka (208-83) added 20 points in the effort for Trefl. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Twarde Pierniki moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Trefl Sopot. Twarde Pierniki's next round opponent will be league's leader Stelmet in Zielona Gora and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
