Regular Season Round 27: Valencia - Andorra 95-91
Date: April 4, 2015
Very predictable result when seventh ranked Valencia Basket (15-12) beat at home 15th ranked Andorra (9-18) 95-91 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-14. But Andorra won second period 23-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Valencia Basket won last quarter 26-24. They made 26-of-29 free shots (89.7 percent) during the game. Andorra was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was point guard Pau Ribas (196-87) who scored 17 points and 7 assists. The former international guard Rafael Martinez (190-82) chipped in 21 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian forward Luka Bogdanovic (210-85, agency: Beo Basket) who recorded 18 points and Austrian point guard Thomas Schreiner (195-87, agency: Dynamics Global Management) added 10 points and 7 assists respectively. Four Valencia Basket and five Andorra players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Valencia Basket moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Laboral Kutxa. Loser Andorra dropped to the fourteenth position with 18 games lost. Valencia Basket will face Gipuzkoa (#14) in San Sebastian in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Andorra will play on the road against CAI Zaragoza and hope to win that game.
