We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 7th ranked Shinshu BW (19-27) lost to eighth ranked Gunma (17-29) in Nagano 80-93 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 55-41 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Gunma forced 19 Shinshu BW turnovers. American forward Carlos Dixon (201-81, college: Virginia Tech) nailed 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import power forward Daniel Northern (206-85, college: Tenn Tech, agency: R.H.Consultancy) accounted for 17 points and 12 rebounds. Four Gunma players scored in double figures. American forward Patrick Sanders (198-85, college: Cal-Irvine) came up with 22 points and 8 rebounds and American-Somalian forward Mohamed Abukar (208-85, college: San Diego St., agency: Two Points) added 23 points respectively for Shinshu BW in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gunma moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Oita H.Devils and Fukushima. Shinshu BW lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 27 games lost. Gunma will meet at home Yokohama BC (#10) in the next round. Shinshu BW will play against Niigata Albirex and hope to secure a win.
