Regular Season Round 21: C.Adelantados - Segle XXI 64-74

There was no surprise when 11th ranked C.Adelantados (5-16) lost to seventh ranked Segle XXI (10-11) in San Cristobal 64-74 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-64. Strangely C.Adelantados outrebounded Segle XXI 33-20 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Segle XXI especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. It was a good game for point guard Clara Che (172-97) who led her team to a victory with 16 points. Forward Paula Ginzo (187-98) contributed with 8 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four Segle XXI players scored in double figures. Segle XXI's coach Ivan Torinos used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Cameroonian power forward Florence Avebe (185-88, college: Massachusetts) answered with 17 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Brittany Spears (185-88, college: Colorado, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 20 points in the effort for C.Adelantados. Segle XXI moved-up to sixth place in Group B, which they share with IF Air Europa. Newly promoted C.Adelantados dropped to the tenth position with 16 games lost. Segle XXI will face IF Air Europa (#6) in S'Arenal in the next round. C.Adelantados will play on the road against UCAM Jairis (#9) in Alcantarilla and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
