Regular Season Round 27: Rouen - Limoges 76-74

The game between third ranked Limoges CSP Elite (18-9) and fourteenth ranked SPO Rouen (11-16) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Limoges CSP Elite was edged by SPO Rouen in a tough game in Rouen 74-76. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 48-42 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Limoges CSP Elite outrebounded SPO Rouen 47-28 including a 25-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international center Alain Koffi (207-83, agency: Beo Basket) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. American point guard Jamar Wilson (185-84, college: Albany) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). At the other side the best for losing team was Brazilian power forward Joao Paulo Batista (205-81, college: Gonzaga) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and the former international forward Adrien Moerman (203-88) added 8 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Five SPO Rouen and four Limoges CSP Elite players scored in double figures. Limoges CSP Elite's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. SPO Rouen moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Pau-Lacq-Orthez. Defending champion Limoges CSP Elite keeps the third position with nine games lost. SPO Rouen is looking forward to face higher ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (#6) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
