Fourteenth-ranked Gipuzkoa (9-18) made lots of trouble for ninth ranked G.Canaria 2014 (14-13) in San Sebastian. The visitors from Las Palmas managed to secure only two-point victory 74-72. However their fans expected much easier game. Gipuzkoa was ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 22-18 charge of G.Canaria 2014, which allowed them to win the game. It was an exceptional evening for Dominican forward Eulis Baez (201-82, college: W.Illinois) who led the winners and scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Naturalized Cape Verdean center Walter Tavares (220-92) accounted for 11 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. G.Canaria 2014's coach Garcia Aito Reneses allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Center David Doblas (206-81) came up with 19 points and guard Jordi Grimau (196-83) added 15 points respectively for Gipuzkoa in the defeat. G.Canaria 2014 moved-up to eighth place, which they share with CAI Zaragoza. Gipuzkoa lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 18 games lost. G.Canaria 2014's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (#18) in Madrid and are hoping to win another game.
