There was a small surprise in Mirandola where ninth ranked Mantovana (12-14) defeated 7th ranked Trieste (14-13) 59-52 on Saturday. Trieste trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 21-15 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 52-59 at the end of the game. Mantovana dominated on the defensive end, holding Trieste to just 6 points in third quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Polish power forward Jakub Wojciechowski (210-90) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and naturalized American forward Ryan Amoroso (205-85, college: San Diego St.) who added 10 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Murphy Holloway (201-90, college: Mississippi) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Issiah Grayson (180-91, college: CSU Bakersfield) scored 9 points. Mantovana have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Mantovana maintains ninth position with 12-14 record. Loser Trieste keeps the seventh place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Agrigento. Mantovana will meet higher ranked Agrigento (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Trieste will play against Fileni BPA Jesi and hope to secure a win.
