No shocking result in a game in Roma where tenth ranked Virtus Acea (11-14) defeated 12th ranked Air Avellino (9-16) 81-72. It looked good early as Air Avellino took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Virtus Acea had a 22-15 second period charge getting the lead and Air Avellino was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-81. They outrebounded Air Avellino 35-24 including 21 on the defensive glass. Nigerian forward Ndudi Ebi (206-84, agency: Higher Vision Sports) nailed 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and Canadian-Nigerian forward Melvin Ejim (198-91, college: Iowa St.) accounted for 9 points and 11 rebounds. American guard Adrian Banks (191-86, college: NW Mississippi CC) came up with 21 points and 5 assists and naturalized Canadian power forward Marc Trasolini (206-90, college: Santa Clara) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Air Avellino in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Virtus Acea. They moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Vanoli CR. Air Avellino at the other side keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Virtus Acea's next round opponent will be league's leader Armani Milano on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Air Avellino will play against Tuscany Pistoia (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
