The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tel-Aviv: Maccabi T-A (#1) and Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#4). Maccabi T-A (23-3) smashed visiting Hapoel Tel-Aviv (14-12) by 17 points 89-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hapoel Tel-Aviv. The game without a history. Maccabi T-A led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They outrebounded Hapoel Tel-Aviv 39-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Maccabi T-A made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American point guard Jeremy Pargo (188-86, college: Gonzaga) who scored 17 points and 8 assists. The former international center Alex Tyus (203-88, college: Florida) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks. Five Maccabi T-A players scored in double figures. The former international Raviv Limonad (191-84) produced 18 points and 6 assists and American power forward Yancy Gates (206-89, college: Cincinnati) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains first position with 23-3 record. Hapoel Tel-Aviv at the other side dropped to the third place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Maccabi Rishon and Hapoel Holon. Maccabi T-A are looking forward to face Maccabi Rishon (#3) in Rishon Le-Zion in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play at home against the league's second-placed Hapoel Jerusalem and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
