Regular Season Round 43: Mitsubishi DD - Hitachi SR 67-69

Second-ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (25-20) gave a tough game to first ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (39-7) in Nagoya. The visitors from Tokyo managed to secure only two-point victory 69-67. However their fans expected easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 17-12. But Mitsubishi Dolphins won second period 18-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for international power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85, agency: N.E.T.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 18 rebounds. American forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga, agency: APAA Sports Group) accounted for 17 points for the winning side. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach Michael Olson allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Senegalese-French forward Amath M'Baye (206-89, college: Oklahoma) came up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 13 rebounds and the former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) added 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for Mitsubishi Dolphins in the defeat. The victory was the twelfth consecutive win for Hitachi Sunrockers. They maintain first place with 39-7 record. Mitsubishi Dolphins lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the second position with 20 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mitsubishi Dolphins will play on the road against Chiba Jets and hope to get back on the winning track.
