We should mention about the upset which took place in Tenerife, where higher ranked Laboral Kutxa (15-12) was outleveled in a road game by twelfth ranked CB Canarias (12-15) 91-56 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Laboral Kutxa. The game without a history. CB Canarias led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They outrebounded Laboral Kutxa 43-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. CB Canarias looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Laboral Kutxa's players. The best player for the winners was American forward Luke Sikma (203-89, college: Portland) who scored 8 points and 11 rebounds. Argentinian-Italian point guard Nicolas Richotti (183-86) chipped in 14 points. Four CB Canarias players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Mike James (185-90, college: Lamar) who recorded 16 points and Bosnian-Slovenian center Mirza Begic (216-85) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. CB Canarias moved-up to tenth place, which they share with UCAM Murcia and Rio Natura Mnb. Loser Laboral Kutxa dropped to the sixth position with 12 games lost. CB Canarias will face higher ranked FIATC Joventut (#5) in Badalona in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
