No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Maccabi Rishon (14-12) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Maccabi Ashdod (7-19) 78-62. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Maccabi Rishon's pressure prevailed and they won that period 23-11 extending their advantage to 16 points. American power forward Jackie Carmichael (206-90, college: Illinois St.) notched 16 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international Nitzan Hanochi (194-86) supported him with 8 points and 9 rebounds. Even 19 points by American forward James Nunnally (201-90, college: UCSB) did not help to save the game for Maccabi Ashdod. His fellow American import forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) added 15 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Maccabi Rishon moved-up to third place, which they share with Hapoel T-A and Hapoel Holon. Maccabi Ashdod lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 19 games lost. Maccabi Rishon's next round opponent will be league's leader Maccabi T-A in Tel-Aviv and it will be for sure the game of the week. Maccabi Ashdod will play on the road against Ironi Nes-Ziona (#6) in Nes Ziyona and hope to win that game.
