Regular Season Round 27: Chalon - Le Havre 80-78

A very close game took place in Chalon between Chalon/Saor and STB Le Havre. Twelfth ranked Chalon/Saor (13-14) got a very close home victory over higher ranked STB Le Havre (15-12). Chalon/Saor managed to escape with a 2-point win 80-78 on Monday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of STB Le Havre. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Chalon/Saor shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. It was a great evening for American guard Jason Rich (191-86) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 assists. The former international forward Ilian Evtimov (201-83, college: N.Carolina St.) helped adding 18 points. The best for the losing side was American point guard Tyrone Brazelton (183-86, college: W.Kentucky, agency: Higher Vision Sports) with 16 points and 5 assists and American-Venezuelan guard John Cox (194-81, college: USF) scored 16 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Chalon/Saor maintains twelfth place with 13-14 record. STB Le Havre at the other side keeps the fifth position with 12 games lost. They share it with ASVEL. Chalon/Saor will meet higher ranked Chalons-Reims (#10) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. STB Le Havre will play against SO Maritime Boulogne (#18) in Boulogne-sur-Mer and hope to secure a win.
