Very significant was Cathay Life's (#1, 12-1) victory against 4th placed Taipower (2-11) 81-63. The game without a history. Cathay Life led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Taipower's 44. Cathay Life forced 23 Taipower turnovers. The former international power forward Liu Chun-Yi (180-81) stepped up and scored 18 points for the winners and the former international center Ning Chang (186-87) chipped in 8 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side the former international center Yi-Chun Liu (186-86) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and international guard Yu-Chun Wei (176-92) scored 16 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 12-1 record. Taipower lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Cathay Life are looking forward to face league's second-placed Taiyuan Textile in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Taipower will play against Chunghwa Telecom and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
