Fourth-ranked Taipower (2-12) made lots of trouble for third ranked Chunghwa Telecom (6-8) on Thursday. Chunghwa Telecom managed to secure only three-point victory 74-71. However their fans expected easier game. Taipower was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 19-13 charge of Chunghwa Telecom, which allowed them to win the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Chunghwa Telecom made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was forward Wei-Lin Wang (180-93) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks. Forward Jia-Wei Liu (175-88) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Chunghwa Telecom players scored in double figures. The former international center Chi-Wen Lin (186-83) produced 15 points and 8 rebounds and the former international center Yi-Chun Liu (186-86) added 4 points and 12 rebounds respectivelyfor Chunghwa Telecom. Taipower's coach Wei-Juan Qian tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Chunghwa Telecom maintains third position with 6-8 record having seven points less than leader Cathay Life. Taipower lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 12 games lost. Chunghwa Telecom are looking forward to face league's leader Cathay Life in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Taipower will play against the league's second-placed Taiyuan Textile and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
