Regular Season Round 27: Stelmet ZG - Torun 85-84

Ninth-ranked Twarde Pierniki (12-15) made lots of trouble for first ranked Stelmet (22-5) in Zielona Gora on Friday. Stelmet managed to secure only one-point victory 85-84. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Twarde Pierniki. Twarde Pierniki was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Stelmet looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Lukasz Koszarek (187-84) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 assists. International Aaron Cel (203-87) chipped in 24 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American LaMarshall Corbett (188-88, college: Angelo St.) who recorded 19 points and 5 assists and the other American import point guard William Franklin (184-85, college: Bradley, agency: 011 Sports) added 10 points and 9 assists respectively. Four Stelmet and five Twarde Pierniki players scored in double figures. Twarde Pierniki's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Stelmet have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 22-5 record. Newly promoted Twarde Pierniki dropped to the eighth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Trefl Sopot. Stelmet are looking forward to face Rosa (#5) in Radom in the next round. Twarde Pierniki will have a break next round.
