Fifth-ranked Kumamoto V. (6-41) made lots of trouble for sixth ranked Hokkaido L. (18-31) in Saporro. Hokkaido L. managed to secure only two-point victory 84-82. However their fans expected easier game. Kumamoto V. was ahead by 5 points at the halftime before a 27-14 third quarter run of Hokkaido L.. Kumamoto V. was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch.
