The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Milano's (4-4) home victory over 6th ranked Virtus Cagliari (2-7) 65-56 on Saturday. Virtus Cagliari trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 22-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 56-65 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Virtus Cagliari 40-25 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for guard Giulia Rossi (170-91) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Valentina Ruisi (170-95) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Milano's coach Franz Pinotti used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Croatian center Gordana Bedalov (191-84, college: FIU, agency: Laszlo Vinko Group) replied with 24 points and 5 rebounds and center Costanza Giorgi (185-89, agency: Players Group) added 8 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Virtus Cagliari. Milano maintains fifth position in A2 with 4-4 record. Loser Virtus Cagliari keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. Milano will face Alghero (#7) on the road in the next round. Virtus Cagliari will play against Salerno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
