Regular Season Round 44: Hiroshima D. - Toyota Alvark 76-101

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Hiroshima where fourth ranked Toyota Alvark (32-14) smashed one of their biggest challengers Dragonflies (19-28) 101-76 on Saturday. The game without a history. Toyota Alvark led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 61.9 percent from the field. Toyota Alvark forced 20 Dragonflies turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Toyota Alvark especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. The best player for the winners was American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) who scored 24 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). The other American import forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) chipped in 24 points and 6 rebounds. Toyota Alvark's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas, agency: APAA Sports Group) produced 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and Senegalese center Pape Faye (200-87) added 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Toyota Alvark have an impressive 15-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 32-14 record. Dragonflies lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the third place with 28 games lost. Toyota Alvark will face Wakayama T. (#7) on the road in the next round. Dragonflies will play against the league's leader Hitachi Sunrockers (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
