Regular Season Round 44: Toshiba BT - Wakayama T. 100-62

Rather predictable result in Kanagawa where third ranked Toshiba Thunders (34-13) outscored 7th ranked Wakayama T. (5-43) 100-62 on Saturday. The game without a history. Toshiba Thunders led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Toshiba Thunders outrebounded Wakayama T. 47-26 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Senegalese swingman Mamadou Diouf (197-77, college: Delaware) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. Four Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. Toshiba Thunders' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Guard Kazutaka Takashima (191-84) produced 18 points and 4 assists and Nigerian center Cyril Awere (211-85) added 10 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Toshiba Thunders have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 34-13 record having five points less than leader Hitachi SR. Wakayama T. lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 43 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face Kumamoto V. (#5) on the road in the next round. Wakayama T. will play against Toyota Alvark and hope to win that game.
