Regular Season Round 50: Aomori Watts - Akita NH 73-90
Date: April 11, 2015
The game in Aomori was also quite interesting. Second ranked Akita Happinets (37-10) played at the court of 6th ranked Aomori Watts (23-24). Akita Happinets did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 90-73 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Akita Happinets. Aomori Watts was better in fourth quarter 24-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Aomori Watts outrebounded Akita Happinets 40-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. American swingman Richard Roby (198-85) scored 22 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Deshawn Stephens (203-89, college: San Diego St.) chipped in 23 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Guyanese-American forward Gordon Klaiber (206-83, college: Fair Dickinson) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Akita Happinets have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 37-10 record behind leader Kyoto Hannar. Aomori Watts lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 24 games lost. Akita Happinets will have a break next round. Aomori Watts will play again at home against the league's second-placed Akita Happinets (#2) and hope to win that game.
