Everything went according to plan when eighth ranked Fukushima (18-29) beat at home 11th ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (5-41) 74-69 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 5 points. Strangely Tokyo Cinq R. outrebounded Fukushima 51-36 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Verdell Jones III (195-89, college: Indiana) scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Masaya Karimata (178-88) chipped in 26 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. American center Will Foster (226-88, college: Gonzaga, agency: Inception Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 20 rebounds and 5 blocks and Bahamas forward Zane Knowles (208-92, college: Texas A&M-CC, agency: Blacktop Management) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Tokyo Cinq R. players scored in double figures. Fukushima moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Shimane SM and Gunma. Tokyo Cinq R. lost twelfth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 41 games lost. Fukushima will face again Tokyo Cinq R. (#11) at home in the next round where they are favorite.
